So the Thor movie is COMING. I mean it’s really coming. Have you seen the number of Thor comic books out lately? It. Is. Insane. There are so many title right now for this OLD ASS character you would think Jesus himself had a movie coming out. Although to be fair we are talking “Gods.”
But it is out of hand. He’s also been featured very prominently these last few months in the on covers. Now, keep in mind before all this movie stuff, they pretty much killed him off with Ragnarok. But now he’s in mini-series like Avengers Prime and even the Pet Avengers. Not to mention the Loki series they just ran AND the one they’re about to run. Plus Thor Mighty Avenger and Thor For Asgard and Thor Wolves of The North. I mean come on!! That’s crazy right?
I’m a fan, really I am. But that’s a lot of books. And quite honestly when I saw the PICTURES from the movie it looked pretty good, but now that I’ve seen the commercials and very unexcited. They’re trying to play it off as The Thrill Ride of the summer like it’s a damn Transformers movie and playing to idiot brigade is really a bad direction. They kind of did a little of that with Iron Man (and none with Spider-Man) but it was something that kicked in after it BECAME a summer hit.
At this point I’m not seeing a lot of information but it looks a LOT better. Clearly this current line of Marvel movies (again, excluding Spider-Man) is based on the Ultimate Universe. Because this Cap and even the Nick Fury from the Iron Man and Thor movies is the Ultimate Nick Fury. It’s cool. And that clip from the Thor movie where he’s being interviewed about who he is at the S.H.E.I.L.D. base is from the comics. Speaking of that they’ve REALLY taken that Ultimate thing downhill haven’t they?
So if they can capture some of that Ultimate Captain America from the comics they will REALLY have something cool on their hands. If you saw the last Hulk movie with Tim Roth after he was given the super soldier formula and was moving around you could see they had it. It was only for a few seconds but it looked great. So I’ve got high hopes. Just look at that poster! if they even come close to that it will be insane.
