The Green Lantern Movie Will Take No Prisoners

The Green Lantern movie is unstoppable force. It is coming and there is nothing you can do to change it. It is what it is at this point. What I can I say? I’m not a fan of Ryan Reynolds. Clearly he likes his comic books and if I MYSELF could get into the movies I’d be doing exactly what this guy has done.

Reynolds was in what? Blade 2? Or was it Blade 3? He played Deadpool in the Wolverine movie. His girlfriend or fiance played the Black Widow in Iron Man 2. So he’s all over the comic movies. But to get the role of Hal Jordan is the feather in the cap. I mean fans of Green Lantern are what made this happen. It was a few years ago that some very inventive guy made a fan movie and put it on Youtube and basically showed DC Comics HOW to make a Green Lantern movie. And the view count let them know it was money in it.

So then about a year later they probably put it on the “maybe” pile. Then they decided to rip-off Marvel and create dead superheroes. What? You dont know what I’m talking about. See Marvel had these Zombies and they were dead looking version of your favorite characters and DC clearly got infatuated and decided to build a thing around it. When Marvel did it was just a mini-series and meant to be funny. DC went “all in” and basically had their own “Civil War” moment. (By the way it’s ironic that his latest marvel Zombies is stealing the look and feel of DC. I think they’re acknowledging they got ripped off).

Don’t get me wrong DC Comic’s Darkest Night and Brightest Day has REALLY breathed new I’ve into their stories. I mean nothing has really been going on for a while. Individual titles have done OK, but not major crossovers or life and death or even resurrections.

Oh but let’s get back to the movie. So this is a very new KIND of superhero movie when you think about it. The comics about superheroes kind of mostly fall in the “crime” genre; and in that realm there’s like regular crime and SUPER crime. Galactic stories are a part of the mix too, but it’[s really something that comes along with specific writers like Jim Shooter or DNA. And it’s always a lot of fun as far as I’m concerned. But it’s REALLY never been done in the movies. Superman in the 80′s movie arrives from space and it’s not until Zod comes along later in the series that “space” get’s mentioned again. So this new Lantern movie is really the first full blown galactic hero. So it’s very, very exciting. And something I’m hoping we can get more of.
